Aims of the Nazi Party in Germany

Under the direction of Adolf Hitler, the Nazi Party—officially called the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP)—became the dominant far-right political force in Germany during the 1930s. The objectives and philosophies of the party profoundly influenced the path of history, ultimately resulting in the atrocities of World War II and the Holocaust. We will examine the main objectives of the Nazi Party in Germany in this blog.

Expansionism and Nationalism

An extreme version of German nationalism served as the foundation for the ideology of the Nazi Party. The party's "Lebensraum" (living space) goals were to rebuild and enlarge German territories in order to accommodate what they saw as the growing Aryan race.

Prejudice based on race and anti-Semitism

The idea of Aryan racial supremacy was fundamental to the ideologies of the Nazi Party. The Nazis aimed to create a racially pure state and propagated the notion that the Aryan race was superior. This ideology was responsible for the persecution, discrimination, and eventual genocide against a number of minority groups, including the Romani people, the disabled, Jews, and other groups deemed "undesirables."

Rule by Totalitarians

The goal of the Nazi Party was to install an authoritarian government that would control every aspect of society. In an effort to crush political opposition and consolidate power, Hitler and the party leadership suppressed democratic institutions, censored the media, and created the Gestapo, or secret police.

Market Economy and Autarky

An economically independent and self-sufficient Germany was the goal of the Nazis, or "autarky." Their economic strategies prioritized rearmament, public works initiatives, and military buildup in order to create jobs. They used these policies as a key component of their plan to lessen the effects of the Great Depression on the economy.

Imperialism and Militarization

The militarization of Germany and the pursuit of imperialistic objectives were among the objectives of the Nazi Party. Their goals were to increase their power and influence throughout Europe and beyond by assembling a strong military. This imperialist agenda included the annexation of Austria (Anschluss), the remilitarization of the Rhineland, and the eventual invasion of other nations.

Program Lebensborn and Eugenics

Eugenics was promoted by the Nazis as a way to "improve" the Aryan race. The Lebensborn program propagated the notion that some people were fit for procreation while others were not, and it encouraged "racially pure" people to have children. This resulted in horrifying practices such as forced sterilizations.

Both propaganda and indoctrination

Through indoctrination, propaganda, and the spread of their ideology, the Nazi Party sought to dominate the hearts and minds of the German people. The Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Goebbels, was instrumental in swaying public opinion via cultural and media propaganda.

The Demise of Democratic Rule

The Weimar Republic, which was replaced by an authoritarian government, was among the democratic institutions that the Nazi Party aimed to destroy. When Hitler took office as chancellor in 1933, the German democratic system was all but destroyed.

In summary

The extreme ideology that drove some of the darkest periods in human history was the foundation of the Nazi Party's goals in Germany. Millions of people suffered, and World War II was completely destroyed, as a result of the pursuit of racial supremacy, territorial expansion, militarization, and totalitarian rule. Knowing the objectives of the Nazi Party helps to keep in mind the perils of extreme ideologies and the significance of defending democracy, human rights, and international cooperation.
